At some point in its life this pincushion was vivid blue silk on a beautifully turned wood base. Now it’s a ratty piece of shit, even better. A few scraps of silk are left and the lacquer on the base is crackly. I did this weirdo antique show a few years ago and I brought three of these. Another dealer had one, another had two. An hour later a few more popped up in other booths. I joked with my new neighbor about it and he laughed and pulled two more out of a box. Apparently these were kind of a thing. Which I suppose makes some sense in the context of what can you possibly do with a glass shard that is objectively dangerous and no longer serves the purpose it was made to do? Wrap that shit up and make a pincushion. Oh man this president is being a dangerour turd, what can we do?? Wrap him the fuck up and make a pincushion out of him. Haha, just kidding, that got away from me.
